About the M114/T199 Telescope Mount
The M114 mount supported the M105C articulated telescope. Together, they served as a secondary direct-fire sighting system for the 105-mm Gun, Full-Tracked Combat Tank M60.
The mount used a base housing, horizontal slide, and vertically adjustable holder. Boresight knobs allowed the telescope to be adjusted in elevation and deflection. Calibrated scale dials showed these settings in one-mil increments. Locking levers held the selected alignment.
The mount provided 40 mils of elevation adjustment and 40 mils of deflection adjustment. It weighed approximately 48 pounds.
Historical Background
The T199 designation identifies the mount’s developmental form. It was standardized as the M114 as the Army introduced the M60 main battle tank and its 105-mm gun system.
Issued during the first years of the M60 program, this manual documents the original maintenance methods used to support its secondary direct-fire sight. It also reflects the Cold War-era Army system of field repair, depot rebuilding, and locally fabricated maintenance tools.
