PG-2 History

The Soviet Union developed the RPG-2 after World War II. It became one of the first widely used Soviet shoulder-fired anti-tank launchers.

A live PG-2 used a shaped-charge warhead against armored vehicles. Unlike later RPG projectiles, it did not use a rocket motor after leaving the launcher. A separate expulsion charge pushed the projectile from the RPG-2 tube.

The RPG-2 and PG-2 were used by numerous countries during the Cold War and influenced the development of the later RPG-7 system.

Condition

This item has been restored for display. The fin adapter and folding-fin section are original military components. The warhead, expulsion charge, and primer cap are newly made replicas.
