Newly Manufactured Mark 68 Mod 1 Mount for 20mm Mark 16 Autocannon
Custom-built from original U.S. Navy drawings – 2–3 month lead time – display guns only (not for live fire)
Complete your Vietnam- and Cold War–era display, gunboat or patrol craft display with this newly manufactured Mark 68 Mod 1 mount, purpose-built for the 20mm Mark 16 autocannon. Produced directly from original engineering drawings and fabricated with modern CNC machining and CNC waterjet components, this mount is engineered to be visually and functionally equivalent to an original Mk 68 Mod 1 naval mount—while being constructed as a display-only, non–live-fire piece.
The mount shown in the photos is an original Mark 68 Mod 1. The mount you receive will match it in appearance, geometry, and basic function, but will be newly manufactured from CNC-cut and CNC-machined parts rather than castings.
This item is custom-made to order and has an estimated 2–3 month lead time.
Important: This mount is built for display guns only. It is not engineered, proofed, or warranted for live fire and must not be used as a functional weapons mount.
The 20mm Mark 16 autocannon is a U.S. Navy adaptation of aircraft-style 20mm guns (such as the AN/M3 and M24 series), chambered in 20×110mm Hispano ammunition, not the 20×110mm USN round. In naval service, it became a compact, fast-firing anti-personnel and close-in anti-surface weapon, ideal for riverine, coastal, and patrol craft where space and weight were at a premium.
During and after the Vietnam War, Mk 16 guns showed up on a variety of small craft and patrol vessels, where they excelled at engaging small boats, shoreline targets, and exposed personnel. Later, foreign and allied navies continued to mount Mk 16 guns for decades on small offshore patrol vessels and gunboats.
To carry these guns, the Navy used dedicated single mounts such as the Mk 67 and Mk 68. These pedestal mounts provided hand-aimed azimuth and elevation for the gunner and integrated ready-use ammunition boxes. The Mk 68 mount was a heavier single mount optimized for broader elevation arcs and greater stability, making it a natural fit for seagoing patrol craft and gunboats that needed reliable, close-range firepower.
By the late 1970s and 1980s, the U.S. Navy began replacing 20mm Mk 16 systems with the 25mm M242 Bushmaster–based Mk 38 gun system, but many ships and foreign navies retained Mk 16 guns on Mk 68 mounts well into the modern era.
This newly manufactured Mark 68 Mod 1 mount for the 20mm Mark 16 autocannon delivers authentic Cold War and Vietnam-era U.S. Navy styling, modern CNC build quality, and a clear display-only safety profile—perfect for completing your 20mm naval gun installation in a historically accurate way.
