INERT Mark 16 Mod 1 Underwater Contact Mine (Hertz Horn Mine) dated 1955.
Mine Mk 16 Mod 1 is a larger version of Mine Mk 6 Mod 0. The mine case contains over twice as much explosive charge as Mine Mk 6, but otherwise this mine is very similar to Mine Mk 6. The mine is equipped with a backing-up anchor which reduces its "walking" tend- encies. As with Mine Mk 6 Mod 0, 16 operational assemblies are available.
