This inert Mk 15 Mod 6 fin assembly belongs to the Snakeye retarding-tail family used with the 500-pound Mk 82 general-purpose bomb. The design used folding fins to increase air resistance and slow the bomb during its descent, giving the releasing aircraft more time to clear the target area.
