Offered here is an original Combination Rack Arming Solenoid. This is new old stock and has never been installed. This solenoid, cataloged under FSN 5945-303-9677 and later NSN 5945-00-303-9677, was a critical component in the aircraft’s weapons release and arming system, controlling the electrical activation of bomb rack arming circuits.
These original surplus units are in excellent, unissued condition and are ideal for aviation collectors, restorers, and museums seeking authentic Cold War-era U.S. Navy aircraft parts.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, a single-seat, carrier-capable light attack aircraft, entered service in the mid-1950s and quickly became a cornerstone of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation. Known for its compact size, agility, and ability to deliver both conventional and nuclear payloads, the A-4 served extensively during the Vietnam War and remained operational into the 2000s in several foreign air forces.
The TA-4J developed as a two-seat trainer variant, played a vital role in advanced jet and weapons training for naval aviators. Both versions of the Skyhawk utilized combination racks to mount and deliver a variety of air-to-ground ordnance. The arming solenoid was an electrically actuated switch that controlled the delivery of power to initiate weapon fuzing at the appropriate moment—vital for mission safety and effectiveness.
These solenoids are increasingly rare in NOS condition and are perfect for static aircraft restorations, cockpit displays, or historical aviation part collections.
Own a genuine piece of aviation weapons history with this NOS Combination Rack Arming Solenoid—a rare and historically important component from one of the U.S. Navy’s most iconic light attack jets.
