Add an iconic piece of Cold War and Vietnam-era strike aviation to your collection with this restored 5" / 127mm LAU-10B/A 4-Shot Rocket Pod. Originally designed to fire four 5-inch Zuni Folding-Fin Aircraft Rockets (FFAR), this pod has been fully demilitarized and restored as a non-functional, inert display launcher.
Although it can no longer fire and cannot be made to fire, it remains a rare, original launcher—these are the only genuine LAU-10B/A 4-shot pods presently available for purchase, making them highly desirable for museums, aircraft restorations, and serious ordnance collections.

The LAU-10 and the 5" Zuni Rocket System
The Zuni 5-inch FFAR is a 127mm unguided rocket developed by the U.S. Navy in the 1950s as a heavier follow-on to earlier 3.5" and 5" aircraft rockets. It was designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground roles, with a modular family of warheads including general-purpose HE, HEAT/ATAP, smoke, illumination, chaff, and practice types. The Zuni saw extensive combat service in Vietnam and continued in use for decades afterward on U.S. and allied aircraft.
The Zuni is typically fired from the LAU-10 series 4-shot rocket launcher, an all-weather pod rated for speeds up to about Mach 1.2. The launcher is a cylindrical cluster of four aluminum launch tubes, held together by metal ribs and covered by an aluminum outer skin. Pods can be fitted with frangible nose and tail fairings that disintegrate when rockets are fired, and are equipped with intervalometers to allow single or ripple firing of the four rockets.

Later LAU-10 variants, such as the LAU-10C/A and LAU-10D/A, added thermal protection and other improvements, but all share the same basic 4-tube layout and role as the standard launcher for 5" Zuni rockets on aircraft like the A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II, F-4 Phantom II, OV-10 Bronco, and others.

About This Restored LAU-10B/A Pod
  • Original 4-Shot Zuni Rocket Pod
    • Genuine LAU-10B/A launcher from the LAU-10 family, not a replica or trainer shell.
    • Four Plugged full-length 5" / 127mm launch tubes arranged in the classic cylindrical pod configuration.
  • Inert and Non-Functional
    • Pod has been thoroughly demilitarized: no intervalometer electronics, no functioning firing circuits, and no internal rocket components.
    • Cannot be made to fire and is sold strictly as an inert launcher for display, restoration, and educational purposes.
  • Restored Exterior
    • Cleaned and refinished to present as a service-correct launcher, ready for installation under a wing, on a weapons pylon, or as a stand-alone floor display.
    • Correct overall shape and dimensions for use on static aircraft, weapons carts, or museum mounts representing Vietnam- and Cold War-era loadouts.
  • Mechanical and Visual Details
    • Retains key external features such as suspension lug locations and tube mouths, giving a realistic view of how Zuni pods looked in operational use.
    • Ideal for pairing with inert Mk 24, Mk 32, Mk 63, Mk 33, Mk 34, Mk 84, or practice Zuni rockets for a complete display.
Legal & Transfer Information
Although this pod is fully inert and non-functional, current ATF interpretation treats these original LAU-10B/A launchers as “firearms” for regulatory purposes. As a result:
  • All LAU-10B/A pods are sold and transferred through our sister company DestructiveDevices.com, using the appropriate firearm transfer process.
  • Buyers must be legally able to receive and possess a firearm in their jurisdiction.
  • This classification is regulatory only; the pod itself cannot chamber, fire, or be made to fire live rockets.
This ensures you can own a genuine LAU-10B/A that complies with U.S. federal regulations, while still enjoying a completely inert display item.
Ideal For
  • Museum aircraft and weapons displays depicting Vietnam-era and Cold War Navy and Marine strike loadouts
  • Static aircraft restorations (A-4, A-6, A-7, F-4, OV-10, and similar platforms) needing correct 5" Zuni rocket pods
  • High-end ordnance collections focused on naval aviation, rocket systems, and external stores
  • Training and classroom environments illustrating podded rocket systems, suspension hardware, and Cold War weapons integration
Owning a restored 5" / 127mm LAU-10B/A 4-Shot Rocket Pod gives your collection the presence of a true frontline rocket launcher—visually ready for a quartet of Zunis, historically correct, fully inert, and transferred in compliance with modern ATF requirements.
