This original 40mm M5 Armament Subsystem Control Module Assembly is a genuine U.S. military surplus component designed for the M5 Armament Subsystem, a helicopter-mounted weapon system developed during the Vietnam War era. This control module is responsible for integrating and managing the functions of the M5 system's fire control, power distribution, and weapon engagement mechanisms.

The M5 Armament Subsystem was mounted on UH-1B, UH-1C, and UH-1M "Huey" helicopters and formed a critical part of the U.S. Army's airborne fire support capabilities in Vietnam. It was designed to carry and operate the M75 40mm automatic grenade launcher, offering aircrews a high-volume area suppression weapon. These systems were instrumental in close air support, convoy escort, and landing zone preparation operations.

The control module assembly, designated under FSN 1010-910-7167 and NSN 1010-00-910-7167, ensured the safe operation of the weapon system by regulating power to the firing circuits, monitoring operational status, and facilitating crew inputs. These modules were built to MIL-SPEC durability standards to withstand vibration, moisture, and the extreme conditions experienced during combat missions in Southeast Asia.
