EXTREMLY RARE inert 40mm round, used in the Canon revolver de 40mm Mle 1879 by France in the late 1870’s. This 40x100mm round has a casing made of brass. This round is in AMAZING condition. The Canon revolver de 40mm Mle 1879 was manufactured by Hotchkiss in 1874. The Mle 1879 was designed for arming the casemates and bunkers defending the fort ditches. This recoiless weapon could only fire canister-shot type ammunition.
