Complete your 2.75" / 70mm rocket displays with the correct nose hardware. This M440 Point Detonating, Superquick and Delay (SQ & Delay) Dummy Fuze is precision-machined in our shop from solid aluminum, then professionally anodized for a durable, service-style finish. Modeled directly from an original M440 fuze, it gives your inert Hydra 70 or legacy 2.75" rockets the right profile, proportions, and visual detail—without any explosive components.
There is a built-in bulk discount when you buy 7 or 19 dummy fuzes, making it easy and cost-effective to fill an entire 7-tube or 19-tube rocket pod with visually correct, inert rounds.
Historical Background – M440 Fuze and the 2.75" / 70mm Rocket.

The modern 70mm rocket family traces its lineage to the original 2.75" Folding-Fin Aerial Rocket (FFAR) developed in the late 1940s and early 1950s for air-to-ground and air-to-air use. Over time, this system evolved into what is now commonly known as the Hydra 70 rocket, pairing improved motors (such as the Mk 66 series) with a wide range of warheads and nose fuzes.
To initiate unitary high-explosive warheads like the M151 HE “10-pounder”, the system uses point-detonating (PD) fuzes mounted in the nose. Fuzes of this type (M423, M427, M438, M440, and others) are designed to provide superquick detonation on direct impact and, when so configured, short delay action so the warhead can penetrate light cover, structures, or foliage before bursting. In U.S. ammunition data sheets, the M440 fuze appears as a standard PD option in complete 2.75" HE rocket assemblies combining an M151 warhead and a Mk 40 or Mk 66 motor.
Your dummy fuze is engineered to reproduce the external appearance and thread interface of this M440 PD SQ/Delay fuze, making it ideal for restoring or completing inert 70mm rockets in historically correct configurations.

About This M440 Dummy Fuze
  • CNC-Machined from Solid Aluminum
    • Each fuze body is turned and turned and milled from solid aluminum bar stock in our machine shop.
    • Strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant, with crisp edges and clean geometry that hold up to repeated handling.
  • Anodized for Durability and Authentic Appearance
    • After machining, the fuze bodies are anodized, providing a hard, abrasion-resistant surface and a professional metallic finish.
  • Modeled from an Original M440 Fuze
    • Dimensions and contours are taken from an original M440 PD fuze, including body taper, shoulders, and nose form.
    • Captures the distinctive look of a point-detonating SQ & Delay fuze used on 2.75" / 70mm HE rockets, so your rounds look “right” even up close.
  • Completely Inert – No Explosive or Fuze Mechanism
    • No detonator, delay element, striker, or internal fuze components.
    • Threads and form are intended for inert display rockets only, not for any live-service application.
Bulk Discounts for Pod-Filling Sets
  • Buy 7: Ideal for filling a 7-tube rocket pod (such as those used on many helicopter and light aircraft installations) with visually complete inert rockets.
  • Buy 19: Perfect for filling a 19-tube pod for larger attack helicopter or CAS aircraft displays.
Whether you are building a single rocket for a shelf display or filling out an entire launcher pod, the bulk pricing makes it practical to equip every rocket with a matching dummy M440 nose fuze.
Ideal For
  • Restoring inert 2.75" / 70mm M151 or similar HE rocket displays
  • Aviation ordnance collections focused on Hydra 70, close air support, and attack helicopter loadouts
  • Museums, EOD classrooms, and training environments that need robust, accurate fuze replicas for hands-on instruction
  • Collectors who want their rocket pods, rails, or static aircraft displays to look fully “loaded” with correct, period-style fuzing

This listing is for the Fuze only; the warhead is sold separately.
