Authentic U.S. Military Surplus – Electrical Firing Circuit Part for the M9 Bazooka Rocket Launcher

This listing is for a hard-to-find 2.36-inch M9 / M9A1 Bazooka Insulating Band with Contactor Springs, an essential component of the electrical firing circuit for the iconic American M9 and M9A1 anti-tank rocket launchers. This original piece of U.S. military surplus shows surface rust beneath the paint, consistent with long-term storage, but remains structurally intact and historically significant.

This insulating band was installed around the rear section of the 2.36" M9 rocket launcher's contactor system. The contactor springs transferred current from the launcher's trigger mechanism to the rocket motor via the firing leads. These bands were vital for reliable electrical ignition of the rocket motor under combat conditions.

Historical Context

The M9 and M9A1 Bazookas were an evolution of the original M1 and M1A1 rocket launchers used during World War II. Introduced in 1943, the M9 featured an improved dual-piece tube design with strengthened contactor elements and increased resistance to moisture and field degradation. These weapons were extensively used in late-WWII campaigns and remained in frontline service through the Korean War.

The insulating band with contactor springs helped ensure that each round would reliably launch when triggered. Malfunctions due to poor contact or weather interference were not uncommon with earlier models, and upgrades such as this band dramatically improved overall reliability. These components are increasingly rare to find.
