This restored 90mm M332A1 HVAP-T (Hypervelocity Armor Piercing Tracer) round is an excellent example of Cold War-era anti-tank ammunition, built and used extensively across NATO allied nations. The M332A1 was engineered to deliver high-velocity, armor-piercing performance and served as one of the most advanced kinetic energy projectiles of its time.
This round has been professionally restored using an authentic German-manufactured projectile —identical in form to those used by the United States, and fitted with a precision reproduction steel penetrator in place of the original tungsten core. The result is a historically accurate display piece that showcases the design and function of one of the most widely adopted 90mm tank rounds. The M332A1 projectile was commonly used in guns mounted on M36 tank destroyers, M48 Patton tanks, and other post-World War II 90mm platforms.
HVAP-T ammunition was developed to defeat heavily armored threats by combining extremely high muzzle velocity with a dense core, allowing it to penetrate steel targets far more effectively than standard AP rounds. This round played a critical role in transitioning Western forces to a more modern anti-armor doctrine in the early Cold War period.
