Restore your U.S. military optical equipment with this original M32 Instrument Light, designed for the M70-series panoramic telescopes, including the M70C, M70D, and M70F. This self-contained unit was issued for illuminating the reticle in low-light conditions and is a key component for any serious restoration of vintage American tank and artillery sighting systems.

Historical Use & Compatibility:

The M32 Instrument Light was developed for use with the following direct-fire telescopes:

  • M70C (used on 75mm Howitzer HMC M8, 37mm Gun M6 on M5A1 Stuart)
  • M70D (used on 37mm Gun M6, M8 Armored Car)
  • M70F (used on 75mm M3 in Medium Tank M4)

These telescopes were commonly fitted to U.S. Army vehicles during World War II and the early Cold War era. The M32 was used to illuminate the reticle window for accurate target acquisition during nighttime or low-visibility operations.

Features:

  • Power Supply: Operates on two standard 1.5V flashlight batteries in series (3V total not included)
  • Standard Lamp: Uses a single 3V lamp for illumination
  • Reticle Illumination: Includes a rheostat (dimmer) to adjust light levels for varied conditions
  • Lamp Bracket & Clamp: Attaches directly to the telescope eyepiece assembly

Condition:

  • These original M32 lights are perfect for restoration. They show typical wear from storage and age, making them ideal for collectors, restorers, or display alongside other U.S. armored vehicle optics. Please review photos for exact condition—units may have surface wear, scratches, or patina consistent with long-term storage.
