This is a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic, inert Soviet P-15 Termit (SS-N-2 Styx) anti-ship cruise missile, one of the most significant naval weapons of the Cold War. This museum-grade artifact remains in exceptional condition, mounted on its original storage and transport dolly, making it an unparalleled addition to any military collection, museum, or historical display.
This missile has a well-documented history that adds to its uniqueness. Originally housed at the Central Air Force Museum in Moscow, Russia, it was transferred in 1992 to the San Diego Museum of Flight for public display. In 2003, we acquired this historic piece, ensuring its continued preservation.
The P-15 Termit was the Soviet Union’s first operational anti-ship cruise missile, developed in the 1950s in response to Western naval advancements. Heavily inspired by World War II German rocket technology, this missile revolutionized modern naval combat and was widely exported to Soviet-aligned nations.
It gained international recognition in 1967 when Egyptian forces used it to sink the Israeli destroyer INS Eilat, marking the first time a warship was destroyed by a guided missile in combat. With a range of up to 80 kilometers (50 miles) and a powerful high-explosive warhead, the SS-N-2 Styx became a cornerstone of naval arsenals throughout the Cold War.
