INERT 30mm PGU-15/B Target Practice (TP) Round GAU-8 Avenger Cannon A-10 Warthog Shell.

See more information below...

INERT Very nice condition 30mm PGU-15/B Target Practice (TP) Round for use in the GAU-8 Avenger cannon, which is used aboard the A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" jet aircraft. The A-10 is used in fixed-wing close-air support, forward air control, and ground-attack aircraft missions. The later "tank killing" role being its most effective use. The entire airframe was built around the rotary "Gatling gun" type cannon that fires this round. The Avenger cannon is one of the most effective aircraft cannons ever developed, which consequently makes the A10 one of the most important enemy-killing tools in the US Air Force's arsenal.  The cannon fires these rounds at the stunning rate of 4,200 rounds per minute, which is 70 rounds per second. It's worth mentioning that the GAU-8 cannon is also used in the "Goalkeeper" Close-In Weapon System to destroy incoming threats to naval ships. The cases have a variation in color; due to the aluminum anodizing process, so some cases are darker green, some are much lighter green, and some have even a golden/greenish color to them. The anodizing process sometimes leaves blemishes in the finish, so if you are expecting 100% perfection, please do not buy the round. The casing is empty and primerless. The projectile is 100% inert.

Approx length 11.5", Approx width 1.75", Approx weight 1lbs.
